What is context?
Context is the hint that helps Tiro transcribe your audio more accurately. When you tell it who is talking about what and in what setting, it catches unfamiliar proper nouns correctly and shapes the summary to fit the situation. You can use it anywhere: live recording, offline recording, audio file upload, and Conference mode. How to add context
- Before you start recording: Type it into the [Context] field on a new note.
- While recording: Add or edit it any time with the [Context] button in the recording controls. When you add a proper noun that comes up mid-conversation, it applies from the next moment on.
- Beyond text: Paste a captured image, or upload meeting materials with the [File Upload] button (up to 5 files, 20MB each). PDF, image, text, audio, and video files are supported.
- Reuse: Pull context from a past note as-is with the [Previous Contexts] button. Handy for meetings that repeat every week.
How do you use it well?
Three things work best together: the situation, the proper nouns, and the tone you want.e.g. This is a business meeting with The Plato. Capture proper nouns like product names and participants, along with business terms, accurately, and write the summary in a professional, formal tone. People/companies/products: Hong Gildong, The Plato, Tiro
- Situation: Tell it what kind of conversation it is, like a business meeting, a lecture, or an interview.
- Proper nouns: List the names of people, companies, and products. The more unfamiliar the word, the bigger the payoff.
- Tone request: Requests like “summarize in a friendly tone” or “keep technical terms in English” are reflected too.
Frequently asked questions
Is context useless if I add it after recording ends?
It does not apply to the Note or the transcript, but once you add context and regenerate the one-page document, it does apply. What is the difference between context and the wordbook?
Context is a situation description that applies to this one conversation, while the wordbook is a proper-noun dictionary that applies to every note all the time. Register company and product names that come up every time in the wordbook, and write the situation and people specific to this conversation in the context. Can I upload an entire set of meeting materials?
Yes. Upload presentation decks or agenda documents with the [File Upload] button in context, and Tiro reads them and uses them as reference for the recording. You can upload up to 5 files, 20MB each.Related pages: Live Recording · Wordbook · Manage Conversation Participants
