Your billing provider depends on where you completed your payment. The provider determines how you manage billing, how refunds are handled, and where to get support. This guide helps you understand Tiro’s billing providers and quickly find which one you’re using.

  • Paid in the Android app → Google Play Store
If you don’t remember your billing provider, start by checking the device and environment you paid from. 2) Check in the Manage Subscription screen on Tiro web If you’re on the web or desktop app, you can also check in the Manage Subscription screen.

Good to know

  • Your billing provider does not change automatically.
  • Even with the same email or account, a different payment environment can mean a different billing provider.
  • Refunds, billing errors, and invoices are handled according to each provider’s policy.

Desktop (Stripe): start, check, and cancel

If you paid on the web or in the desktop app (Mac / Windows), your billing provider is Stripe.

Start a plan subscription

0) Open the billing page
  • Sign in to the Tiro website (https://tiro.ooo/) or the desktop app (Mac / Windows).
  • Click your profile at the bottom left, then go to [Manage Subscription] or Settings > Manage Subscription.
  • You can choose a paid plan and complete payment on this page.
Annual billing Choose annual billing to get two months free. Pay for ten months and use Tiro for the full twelve.

You can check your current plan two ways.

  • Click your profile > Manage Subscription for fuller subscription details.
The Manage Subscription page shows the following.
  • Your current plan
  • Your next billing date
  • The platform you paid on
  • Options to change and manage your plan

Cancel an upcoming renewal

You can cancel a plan that’s set to renew at any time from the Manage Subscription page. Even after you cancel, you can keep using Tiro until the period you’ve already paid for ends.
Heads up Only subscriptions started on the web or desktop app can be canceled there. Subscriptions paid on another platform must be canceled on that platform. See the relevant guide for details. See the iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play) subscription sections below on this page for the steps.

I tapped [Manage billing] in the Tiro app but it says “subscription not found”

In the Tiro app, [Settings] → [Plan] → [Manage billing] loads subscription details for the Google account currently signed in to Play Store on this device. If the Google account you paid with differs from the one currently signed in to Play Store, it may show “subscription not found”. How to find the Google account you paid with
  • Open the [Google Play] app on your phone.
  • Go to the profile icon at the top right → [Payments & subscriptions] → the [Subscriptions] tab.
  • The account where [Tiro] appears in the active subscriptions is the Google account used for payment. (If you don’t see Tiro in the active subscriptions, check the active subscriptions of your other Google Play Store accounts too.)
  • Sign in to Play Store with that account, then tap [Manage billing] again in the Tiro app.
Tiro support can’t confirm the Google account email used for payment. Please check it yourself using the method above or in the receipt email you got after paying.

Check your current plan in the Google Play Store

  • Go to Google Play Store > Account > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions.
  • Find Tiro under Active (active subscriptions).
  • You can see your current plan and next billing date right away. In the screen below, the ‘Lite plan’ bills on the 30th each month, and the next billing date is July 30.
I don’t see Tiro in my subscriptions Check whether the account signed in to Play Store is the one used for payment. If you use multiple Google accounts, make sure it’s the account you were signed in to at the time of subscription. You can quickly see which account paid in the Play Store receipt email you got after paying. To switch the signed-in account in Play Store, tap the profile icon at the top right and choose the account you want from the switch account menu. Then return to the subscription page to check.

Cancel an upcoming renewal

Does canceling get me a refund? Canceling and refunding are different. Canceling means a subscription cancellation so you aren’t charged on the upcoming billing date. A refund returns an amount you’ve already paid, which you can request through the refund guide below.
How to cancel a renewal in Play Store
  • First check your subscription status by following the “Check your current plan” steps.
  • Select the subscription you want to cancel.
  • Cancel by tapping Cancel subscription > (enter a cancellation reason) > Cancel subscription in order.

How to cancel a renewal on desktop If you can’t access Play Store directly, you can cancel an upcoming subscription through the subscription cancellation link. Cancel by going through Open link > Cancel subscription > Confirm account > Select subscription > Cancel subscription. Make sure the account you paid with matches the account you’re canceling.

Change your plan (upgrade / downgrade)

On a monthly subscription? Switch to annual to save up to 30%. Upgrading your Tiro plan gives you more recording time and additional features. How you upgrade depends on where you paid, so check the guide for your payment platform.

What is a plan upgrade?

A Tiro plan upgrade means one of two things. 1) Moving to a plan with more usage For example, moving from the Lite plan to the Pro plan (formerly the Starter plan). 2) Moving from a monthly plan to an annual plan For example, moving from the monthly Lite plan to the annual Lite plan.
Heads up How you upgrade depends on where you paid, so check the guide for your payment platform.

Stripe (web/desktop) plan change

How to upgrade (on desktop)
  • In the Tiro app or website, choose Settings > Manage Subscription.
  • Click the Upgrade button for the plan you want.
  • Click Update subscription in the Stripe billing screen.
  • Choose the plan to update to and click Continue (you can choose the plan type and monthly/annual).
  • Click Confirm on the confirmation screen.
The card already on file with your billing provider is charged automatically, so you don’t need to re-enter your card details. How to upgrade (in the mobile app)
  • Open the My Subscription menu in the Tiro app.
  • Click the Go to manage subscription button.
  • You’re taken to the Stripe subscription management portal.
  • The rest is the same as on desktop.
Switch monthly → annual (paid by card on web/desktop)
  • Sign in to Tiro and go to Settings > Manage Subscription at the top left.
  • Click the “Get started” button for the annual plan you want.
  • On the screen where you choose monthly/annual, choose “Annual”.
  • The remaining time on your monthly subscription is automatically prorated and deducted.
Heads up The remaining time on your monthly subscription is automatically credited as a prorated difference, so don’t worry. You can switch to annual with no loss.

How Stripe upgrades work

For Stripe-based subscriptions, the following principles apply at the time of upgrade. 1) Upgrades apply immediately
  • After you pay for the upgrade, the higher plan’s benefits and usage activate immediately.
  • Rather than ‘canceling and restarting’ your current plan, the difference is charged while keeping your current cycle.
2) The amount is prorated Stripe handles upgrades as a ‘price difference charge’.
  • It ignores the remaining time on your existing plan and
  • charges only the price difference between the two plans for this cycle, immediately.
Example: Lite 7Starter/Pro7 → Starter/Pro 13 → immediate charge of $6 3) Usage is topped up by the difference The extra usage you get on upgrade works the same way.
  • You’re granted the “higher plan’s total usage – current plan’s total usage” for that billing cycle.
  • In other words, usage isn’t ‘reset to the full higher plan’; the difference is added on top.
Example: Lite 300 min → Starter/Pro 1000 min → immediate top-up of 700 min 4) Your billing cycle doesn’t change
  • Even after upgrading, your existing billing date stays the same.
  • When the next billing date arrives, the higher plan’s amount is charged as usual.
Example:
  • Immediately on upgrade → $6 charged
  • Next billing date → $13 (Pro, formerly Starter) recurring charge
Note When you downgrade, the timing and difference handling are shown in the on-screen notice during the change. Contact support with any questions.

App Store (iOS) plan change

  • Select Tiro as in the “Check your current plan” step.
  • Tap the See all plans menu to see every available plan.
  • Choose the plan you want and your plan changes immediately.
When you upgrade You buy a subscription that offers a higher level of service than your current one. You’re upgraded immediately and a prorated amount of your existing subscription is refunded. When you downgrade You choose a subscription that offers a lower level of service than your current one. Your existing subscription stays until the next renewal date, then renews at the lower level and price on the next billing date.

Google Play (Android) plan change

  • Click the button at the top left of Tiro’s home screen.
  • Choose Settings (gear icon).
  • Click the [Manage Subscription] button below the usage display.
  • Choose the plan you want, then tap the [Purchase] button.
You can change your plan anytime, and it applies right away in a few clicks.
When you upgrade This means moving to a plan with more features and usage than your current one.
  • Upgrades apply immediately on payment.
  • The added features and usage are available right away.
  • The upgraded plan’s fee is charged from the next billing cycle.
When you downgrade This means moving to a plan with fewer features and less usage than your current one.
  • You switch to the lower plan you chose, immediately.
  • No partial refund is given for the period you’ve already paid for.
This is a limitation under Google Play Store’s billing policy. Thank you for understanding.

Changing the billing cycle for in-app purchases (monthly → annual)

Under in-app purchase policy, changing the billing cycle (monthly → annual) is only possible through web/desktop payment after your current subscription expires. How to do it
  • Cancel your current monthly subscription (you won’t be cut off immediately and can use it until the expiry date).
    • For how to cancel, see the “In-app purchase (iOS / Android) refunds” section below and each store’s subscription management screen.
  • After your subscription expires, subscribe to the annual plan in the app.
Try it this way. The annual subscription gives you two months free. Pay for ten months and use Tiro for the full twelve.

Annual subscription benefits

  • Two months free (twelve months for the price of ten)
  • Access to all the same features
If you have any questions, contact us through the in-app messenger (support).

Refunds

If you need a refund, whether it’s available can depend on when you paid and whether you’ve used the service.

Stripe (web/desktop) refunds

If you paid on the web or desktop (Stripe), request a refund through support. Here are the refund criteria.
  • Monthly billing: Within 7 days of payment, you get a full refund. After 7 days but within 14 days, you can get a full refund if you haven’t used the service at all since paying. After 15 days or more, a refund isn’t possible.
  • Annual billing: We prorate the time you’ve used and refund the remaining amount. Support will share the exact calculation individually.
  • The refund reaches you within 5 to 10 business days depending on your card issuer. Your subscription ends as soon as the refund is made; you can still view and edit existing notes, but you can’t create new ones.

In-app purchase (iOS / Android) refunds

For in-app purchases (iOS or Android), Tiro can’t process the refund directly. Instead, you can request a refund right away through the App Store or the Google Play Store. Follow the steps below. It’s straightforward to resolve. Request an Android (Google Play) refund
  1. Open the Google Play Store refund request link Heads up
    • Check that the account signed in to Play Store is the one used for your Tiro payment.
    • If you use multiple Google accounts, be sure it’s the account you were signed in to at the time of subscription.
    • Check the receipt (sent by Play Store) in your email to see right away which account the subscription was made with.
    • In the Play Store app, switch to another account from the profile icon → switch account menu at the top right, then check the subscription page again.
  2. Request a refund > Enter the account you paid with > Find your Tiro charge among your purchases > Select ‘Bought by accident’
If you have any questions, contact us through the in-app messenger (support). Request an iOS (App Store) refund
  • Open the App Store refund link
  • Sign in with the Apple account (App Store account) used for payment
  • Choose the issue: Request a refund
  • Choose the detail: I didn’t mean to purchase this item
  • Select your Tiro charge
  • After selecting all items, choose Submit to complete your refund request.
It can take about 1 to 2 days for the actual refunded amount to reach you.
Heads up Be sure to check the payment date. If you select the wrong charge, the refund can’t be processed.

Roles, permissions, and billing

A Tiro workspace has four roles, and whether a role is billed on the team plan depends on the role.

Billed roles

Admin

Permissions An admin can use all of Tiro’s features plus workspace management. They hold every permission, from recording, editing, summarizing, and document generation to member management and settings changes. The user who creates a workspace is automatically given the Admin role. Billing An admin uses one team plan seat and is billed $29 per month.

Member

Permissions A member can view notes and use all of Tiro’s features. They can start recordings, edit notes, summarize, and generate documents, but can’t use workspace management features like inviting members or changing roles. Billing A member uses one team plan seat and is billed $29 per month.

Roles that aren’t billed

Unpaid Admin

Permissions An unpaid admin can view notes and use workspace management features. They can invite and remove members, change roles, manage settings, and view notes they’re invited to. However, they can’t use Tiro’s core features like recording, summarizing, and document generation. Billing An unpaid admin doesn’t use a team plan seat and isn’t billed.

Viewer

Permissions A viewer can only view notes in the workspace. They can’t use recording, editing, or workspace management features. Billing A viewer doesn’t use a team plan seat and isn’t billed.

Billing example

Admin and Member each use a paid seat at $29 per month. Unpaid Admin and Viewer aren’t billed. For example, a team of 2 Admins, 3 Members, 1 Unpaid Admin, and 5 Viewers has 5 paid seats in total (2 Admins + 3 Members), for a monthly fee of 145(5×145 (5 × 29).

Changing roles

A workspace Admin or Unpaid Admin can change a member’s role in settings. How to change a role [Settings > Workspace settings > Members > Member list] How billing is handled when a role changes Changing from an unbilled role (Viewer, Unpaid Admin) to a billed role (Member, Admin) is prorated based on the usage period and charged immediately. Conversely, changing from a billed role to an unbilled role is prorated for the remaining period and deducted from your next charge.
How it’s calculated Charge or refund amount = $29 × (days remaining until next billing ÷ days in the billing cycle)
Changes between billed roles (Admin ↔ Member) or between unbilled roles (Viewer ↔ Unpaid Admin) don’t affect billing.

Add and remove team members

How team plan billing basically works

Team plan pricing is based on the number of accounts (seats). You’re charged for each user on the team, and every member can use the same features. Pricing structure
  • Base rate: $29/month per account
  • Unlimited usage time
  • All collaboration features included
Example: A team of 10 is charged 290/month(10×290/month (10 × 29). Consolidated billing The whole team is billed on a single invoice.
  • Charged to the team owner’s payment method
  • No separate per-member payment
  • One invoice issued

Add team members

How to invite You need admin permissions to invite team members.
  • Click your profile at the top left > Team management
  • Click the Add member button
  • Enter an email address (required)
  • Add a note (optional: team, role, etc.)
  • Send the invite
The invite process
  • Once the invite is complete, an invitation is sent to that email
  • When they accept, they’re registered as a team member right away
How billing works when you add a member From the moment a team member accepts the invite, the remaining period is prorated and charged immediately. Billing formula: immediate charge = ($29 ÷ days in the month) × days remaining Example 1: monthly plan
ItemDetail
Current members3 ($87/month)
Added members1
Acceptance dateJanuary 15
Days remaining16
Immediate charge14.97(14.97 (29 ÷ 31 days × 16 days)
Next billing4 × 29=29 = **116**
Example 2: annual plan
ItemDetail
Current members3 ($348/year/person)
Added members2
Acceptance dateJuly 1
Days remaining6 months
Immediate charge348(348 (348 ÷ 12 months × 6 months × 2 people)
Next billing5 × 348=348 = **1,740**
Note When you invite another team member, the fee is calculated by days used from the moment they accept and charged immediately.

Remove team members

How to remove
  • Click your profile at the top left > Team management
  • Select the member to remove
  • Click Remove from team
  • Confirm to exclude them immediately
What happens after removal Immediate effects:
  • The member is excluded from the team plan immediately
  • They can’t access shared team features like the team glossary
  • They no longer get team subscription benefits
Cost handling:
  • The subscription cost for that member is no longer charged
  • The cost for the remaining period is prorated and deducted on your next billing
Billing example when removing a member Scenario:
  • Now: a 5-person team, monthly plan ($145/month)
  • Billing date: the 1st of each month (charged on January 1)
  • Removing a member: January 15 (16 days remaining)
  • Members removed: 1
Billing breakdown:
Billing pointCalculationAmount
January charge (already done)5 × $29$145
February 1 charge4 × 29=29 = 116, remaining-period deduction: 29÷31days×16days=29 ÷ 31 days × 16 days = 14.97$101.03
March 1 and after4 × $29$116
Important It isn’t refunded immediately, but the cost for the remaining period is automatically deducted on your next charge.

Cancel a team plan subscription

To stop a team plan subscription, you can do it the same way as canceling an individual plan. How to cancel
  • Sign in to the Tiro website or desktop app
  • Go to Settings > Manage Subscription
  • Click the Manage billing button
  • Choose Cancel Subscription and confirm
What changes after canceling Still available:
  • All team plan features until the end of the current billing cycle
  • Your existing team structure and data stay as they are
After the billing cycle ends:
  • You can’t create new notes
  • You can still view and edit existing notes
Note Even if you cancel, the team itself isn’t deleted, and you can subscribe again anytime.

Switch team ↔ individual, leave a team

Switching from an individual plan to a team plan

How to switch You can switch to a team plan anytime, even while on an individual plan.
  • Go to Settings > Manage Subscription
  • Click Start team plan
  • Set the number of members and complete payment
What to know 1) Settlement on switch When you switch from an individual plan to a team plan, it’s settled with proration at the time of the switch. 2) Existing notes are kept All notes you created on the individual plan are kept, and you can still access them after switching to a team plan. 3) In-app purchase users can’t start a team plan If you paid in the iPhone or Android app, you can’t start a team plan directly. Mobile in-app purchases must use that platform’s payment system under App Store or Google Play policy, and that payment system doesn’t support team plans. To use a team plan, switch to the Stripe payment service on the website or desktop app.
Heads up You can cancel your in-app subscription first, wait until the subscription period ends, and then start a team plan. If you want to switch right away, contact support to be connected with an agent for help.
How to switch:
  • Cancel your current in-app subscription (in the App Store or Google Play). See the cancellation section above for details.
  • Wait until the subscription expiry date, or request early termination through support
  • Sign in to the Tiro website (https://tiro.ooo/) or the desktop app
  • Start the team plan in Settings > Manage Subscription

Switching from a team plan to an individual plan

Before starting an individual paid plan, you need to leave the team first. For the steps to leave a team, see the Leaving a team section just below. If you have any questions, contact us through the in-app messenger (support).

Leaving a team

You can leave on your own when you want to subscribe to an individual plan or leave the team. How to leave a team
  • Go to Settings > Team management
  • Click the Leave team button
  • Confirm to complete your departure
Q: I don’t see the Leave team button A: If the team still has an active subscription, the Leave team button won’t appear. If you’re a member, ask your team admin to remove you from the team. If you’re the team admin, contact support.
What changes after leaving Still available:
  • View and edit all notes you created personally
  • Switch to an individual plan (subscribe to the plan you want)
No longer available:
  • Access to team folders
  • Use of team templates
  • Use of the team glossary
  • Viewing notes created within the team (they stay with the team)
Note Even if you leave the team, the notes you created personally are kept. However, notes you saved in team folders stay with the team and you can’t access them.
When leaving is restricted If a team plan subscription is active, leaving the team on your own is restricted. Solutions:
  • If you’re a member: the team admin needs to “remove” you
  • If you’re an admin: choose one of two options
    • Wait for the team plan subscription to expire, then leave
    • Contact support: if you need to leave as admin without letting the team plan subscription expire, or if you want to end the subscription early
