The app updates itself
The desktop app checks for new versions in the background on a regular basis and downloads them automatically.- Small updates apply quietly. Larger ones show a notification toast.
- Even if you choose [Later] in the notification, the update applies the next time you fully quit the app.
- To apply it right away, click the update button in the notification. The app restarts after a moment and the new version takes effect.
Check your version and update manually
Go to Profile → [Settings] → [About] to see the version you’re running. When a new version is available, you’ll see an [Update to v] button. When you’re current, it shows “You’re on the latest version.”When an update won’t apply
Fully quit the app, then relaunch it
A downloaded update applies only when the app fully quits. On Mac, closing the window with the X button doesn’t quit the app. It stays in the tray, so quit it completely with
Cmd+Q or Tiro → Quit from the menu bar, then relaunch. On Windows, the X button does quit the app.Click the update button in About
Go to [Settings] → [About]. If you see an [Update to v] button, click it to apply the update.
Still stuck? Reinstall from scratch
Rarely, the in-app updater fails to pull the latest version. When that happens, the surest fix is to delete the existing app and install the latest version fresh from the download page. All your notes live on the server, so they won’t disappear when you reinstall.
On Windows, if a SmartScreen warning appears when you run the installer, click [More info] → [Run]. The Mac installer is universal (Intel and Apple Silicon), so the same download works on any model.

Will updating delete my notes?
No. Your notes live on the server, so they’re all there when you log in after an update or reinstall. One exception: audio files you saved to your device with local audio storage can be removed when you delete the app, so back them up first if you need them.Could a sudden login failure be caused by my app version?
Yes. Older versions sometimes run into login problems. Update by following the steps above, and if that doesn’t help, delete the app and install it fresh.Can I turn off automatic updates?
